On the morning of May 30, 2016, Professor J. Stephen Downie, Deputy Dean of the Graduate College, the University of Illinois and Ms. Lucinda Morgan, a negotiator of the International Exchange Program of the College of Education, the University of Illinois visited JSU. Professor Ren Xiaofei, Director of Language and Culture Center met and held talks with the guests, together with Vice Director Qiao Fang of the Language and Culture Center and heads of its subordinate departments.

Director Ren extended a warm welcome to Professor J. Stephen Downie and Ms. Lucinda Morgan, briefly introducing to them the development of the international cause of Jiangsu University and the mission of the Language and Culture Center. Ms. Lucinda Morgan in turn gave a panoramic introduction to the University of Illinois and invited faculties of JSU to visit it in the future. The two parties exchanged ideas on sending exchange students to learn the language and culture of each other, jointly sponsoring short-time vacation programs on TCM and public health, jointly offering master programs on information science, jointly holding lectures on overseas study in the United States etc.
