July 1-5, 2016, 14 graduate students organized by the Language and Culture Center participated in the International Postgraduate Roundtable and Research Forum cum Summer School 2016 held by the Education University of Hong Kong. More than 10 colleges and universities from all over the world attended this conference, including the Education University of Hong Kong, Shanghai International Studies University, Hiroshima University, Moscow State University, Jiangsu University etc.

During the meeting, Professor Zhu Weimo of the University of Illinois, Professor Nadezda G. Osipova from Moscow State University and Professor Yasushi Maruyama of Hiroshima University presented their papers respectively entitled “Building effective (sic) student-supervisor relationship”, “Effective academic communication of the educational system in Russian sociology: based on the experience of Moscow State University” and “Building effective (sic) student-supervisor relationship”, which aroused a heated discussion among the student participants.

The delegation of Jiangsu University comprised students from the School of Teacher Education, the School of Foreign Languages etc. They listened to different presentations at various parallel sessions and presented their own research achievements all the way in English. They also attended the roundtable meeting sponsored by the Education University of Hong Kong, discussing problems in the internationalization of graduate education and countermeasures against them with experts and students from all over the world. The paper submitted by Liu Min won the Best Paper Award for Papers. Liu Min, Zhu Yao, Jin Jing, Li Xiqian, together with students from other colleges and universities, presided as chairman or chairperson over the presentations and discussion at different parallel sessions. At the forum, the Education University of Hong Kong presented souvenirs to outstanding organizations (including Jiangsu University) and granted certificates to students presenting their papers at different parallel sessions.

This forum posed not only as  an excellent platform for professors of celebrated colleges and universities to deliver their thought-provoking lectures, but also as a seminar for postgraduates from different countries to exchange their ideas, thus bettering the postgraduates’ understanding of the modern conception of postgraduate education and research methods, paper writing and academic norms concerning postgraduates, and promoting the international cultural and academic exchanges. Jiangsu University delegates were headed by Mr. Zhang Jie Director of the Foreign Language Training at the LCC, and Liu Zhinan, a faculty of the Overseas Study Service at the LCC.
