2016 “Chinese Bridge--Summer Camp for Austrian Students” (July 18)
Date:2016-07-19 View:
The third day arrived for the Austrian students studying in the Language and Culture Center. In the morning, they continued to learn Chinese under the instruction of Miss Xu Dan.

In the afternoon, they paid a visit to Zhenjiang Vinegar Culture Museum. Liu Dahua (Chinese name), a German exchange student continued to act as the interpreter for this visit, whose good command of the Chinese language was an admiration of all the Austrian campers. With the help of a tourist guide and the interpreter Liu Dahua, all the students got well acquainted with the long history of Zhenjiang vinegar culture, the traditional manufacturing process of Zhenjiang vinegar and the development of Zhenjiang’s modern vinegar industry. Then, they had a taste of the vinegar prepared in advance. Some students who drank clean the vinegar at one gulp could help but exclaim, “What sour vinegar!” But some students were more cautious so that they supped vinegar slowly to taste its flavor.

Back from Zhenjiang Vinegar Culture Museum, they went to the Dongshan Playground to feel the charm of the Chinese Kungfu under the guidance of the martial artists from the Martial Art Association. The martial artists there first showed the students Group Taiji, Kungfu Fan, Fencing, Cudgel Play etc. Then the students learned the basic movements of Taiji, practiced Taiji steps and the Cudgel Play, and did the Taiji Boxing in pairs. Having been longing to learn the Chinese Kungfu for a long time, they all practiced with much attention and earnestness.

The evening activities for the Austrian students were even more exciting. They went to visit the Chinese family they each had chosen voluntarily before, where they felt the hospitality of the Chinese family, taste the authentic Chinese food and experience the family life of an exotic country. The students prepared gifts for the children of the Chinese family they visited and received presents from them in return. All the students sighed with emotion that how time flies.
