August 15-19, Jiangsu University hosted the 4-day-long Chinese language and culture exchanges on the schedule for Confucius Institute Summer Camp mainly sponsored by Zhejiang University of Science and Technology. 26 campers from Germany, Japan, Italy and Russia were deeply impressed by their personal experiences of the unique local culture of Zhenjiang and the heartfelt welcome of the faculties and students of Jiangsu University.
During the 4 days in Zhenjiang, the Language and Culture Center offered the foreign campers colorful courses like “Zhenjiang Culture”, “Calligraphy Culture” and “Dough Modeling Culture”, and arranged for them to visit places of interest in Zhenjiang such as the Xijin Ferry, Zhenjiang Museum, Jiaoshan Stone Tablets, and Zhenjiang Vinegar Culture Museum. To ensure the smooth running of this program, leaders and other faculties concerned of the Language and Culture Center all stuck to their post in high summer. The members of summer camp, who all spoke highly of the colorful teaching activities and the unique cultural charm of our campus, were accompanied by teachers and volunteers throughout the tour.
The Confucius Institute Summer Camp is a feature program offered for foreigners keen on learning the Chinese language and culture. By conglomerating language learning, cultural embodiment and sightseeing, this program is aimed at expanding the cultural vision of students, increase their knowledge of the Chinese culture and promote their practical language skills in a short period of time. Based on the “Chinese Bridge” Summer Camp sponsored by the Jiangsu University-University of Graz in Austria Confucius Institute, Jiangsu University is constantly striving to cooperate with colleges and universities in Jiangsu province and even China at large in inviting students of varied foreign colleges and universities to participate in all kinds of summer camps undertaken by us, thus making great contributions to the publicity of overseas student admissions, the international promotion of the Chinese language and the cultural exchanges of Jiangsu University.
