At 2:30 pm on September 13th, the opening ceremony was held in Room 203 of the Trade Union Building for the oral English class for veteran cadres sponsored by the Language and Culture Center and the Retiree Management Office. Tang Jingxia, Director of the Retiree Management Office and Ren Xiaofei, Director of the Language and Culture Center, 45 veteran cadres to take the oral English class, and other people concerned attended the ceremony.

At the strong request of the retired veteran cadres of Jiangsu University, the oral English  class is offered to help them promote their English proficiency and enjoy their travel abroad without language barriers. The scheduled class of 20 attracted 48 veteran cadres to attend. Tang Jingxia, Director of the Retiree Management Office and Ren Xiaofei, Director of the Language and Culture Center delivered a speech in succession and expressed their admiration for the spirit of these veteran cadres embodied in the old saying, “One is never too old to learn”. Mrs. Tang stated the disciplines and requirements for the trainees and her expectation of their learning performance. Mrs. Ren took the opportunity to brief to the veteran cadres the responsibilities of the Language and Culture Center and its three subordinate departments: Foreign Language Training, Overseas Study Service and Chinese Language Teaching. After the opening ceremony, the first lecture was given.

In recent years, with further promotion of the internationalization strategy Jiangsu University has made new and great achievements in the fields of international cooperative research, international exchanges of students, the internationalization of its teaching staff and courses, and the education of overseas students in China etc. The oral English trainee class for the veteran cadres is also an integral part of the international cause and the campus internationalization of Jiangsu University.
