Date:2022-03-03 View:

On the afternoon of March 2nd, Chinese teachers of overseas undergraduate students gathered at the cloud Center and participated in a Chinese teacher symposium organized by the International Chinese Teaching Department.

First of all, Vice President Jiang Yonghua put forward the guiding requirements and suggestions for the teaching work and personal development of teachers in the new semester: teachers should actively study relevant documents and policies, refer to the courses and experiences of first-class majors for international Chinese education, and use higher standards to demand and improve themselves and their work; follow up with the Academic Affairs Office of the school and the School of Overseas Education to carry out the work according to the specific teaching requirements and the teaching focus of each semester; actively promote the construction of relevant teaching materials; to build a brand of Chinese teaching in the Language and Culture Center of Jiangsu University; teachers should take cultivating excellent students as the ultimate goal and guide foreign students to participate in competitions in Chinese and Chinese culture to achieve good educational results.

Then, the teachers exchanged the problems encountered in the teaching process and the coping strategies. Among them, low student participation and poor interaction are common problems in online classes. To solve this problem, Teacher Li Yan shared her classroom experience. For example, by sending messages or interacting with international students with smiling faces, students who stray outside the class can be drawn back to the class. Fu Guirong thinks it is very important to make classroom rules and encourages international students to communicate with teachers actively. Ms. Chen Yu shared her tips on how to open the camera so that international students can see the teacher and draw the distance between the teacher and international students. At the same time, she thought it was very convenient to use the writing board to teach international students how to write Chinese characters. The supervisor, Ms. Mao Haiyan, shared her online teaching experience. She believes that when the class is small, teachers can choose the meeting mode, always turn on the camera, and ask more questions in class. This will help catch the attention of foreign students. At the same time, during group discussion, foreign students can be asked to turn on the camera to improve class participation. Finally, Director Tang Min gave detailed guidance and requirements on how to carry out teaching smoothly from the aspects of archiving of teaching materials, classroom management, course assessment and examination platform. She encourages teachers to write more articles, apply for projects and participate in various teaching competitions organized by the school. The Teaching and Research Department of undergraduate students should carry out its work according to the standards of outstanding Teaching and Research Department of the university to prepare for the application of outstanding Teaching and Research Department.
