The reading club featured guest speakers including Jiang Yonghua, the Vice Dean of the College of Literature at Jiangsu University and Vice Director of the Language and Culture Center, Ren Jianbo, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Publishing House, and Associate Professor Mao Haiyan, the editor of "Agricultural Machinery Chinese" and "Charming Chinese." The event was attended by a large number of faculty and students from the Publishing House, the College of Literature (Language and Culture Center), and the Overseas Education College.

During the reading club, Vice Dean Jiang shared his insights on reading with both Chinese and international students in attendance. He summarized his understanding of reading from three perspectives: reading habits, the value of reading, and the significance of reading. He emphasized the responsibility that university members should bear and how they should become "contributors to the continuation of human knowledge." Therefore, reading should be a habit for all of us, and those who make reading a habit should read more classic works from both Chinese and foreign literature. Through reading, we can create greater mental and intellectual freedom.

During the reading club, Professor Mao Haiyan drew upon her extensive experience in teaching Chinese to share practical teaching methods, techniques, and the rules and requirements for curriculum development. These valuable insights will serve as excellent guidance for students majoring in international Chinese education and for international students in their future studies.

The Chinese and international students who attended the reading club prepared a diverse range of performances, including poetry recitations, song performances, and traditional Chinese zither (guzheng) playing. Chinese students performed in English, while international students performed in Chinese. This truly facilitated cross-cultural communication, with students proficiently using "foreign languages" for recitation and singing. Their pronunciation was precise, diction clear, and performances fluent, leaving everyone in awe.
