Agricultural Machinery Chinese Selected for CLEC’s 2025
“Chinese + Vocational Skills” Project
The call for submissions for the 2025 “Chinese + Vocational Skills” Teaching Resource Project, launched by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), has recently concluded. A total of 186 applications were received. Following document review and expert evaluation, 86 projects were shortlisted. Among them, the textbook Agricultural Machinery Chinese, jointly submitted by the Language and Culture Center of Jiangsu University and Jiangsu University Press Co., Ltd., was successfully selected.
Agricultural Machinery Chinese is one of the key outcomes of the 2021 Innovative International Chinese Education Project — the UNIDO Global Project for Sustainable Development in Agriculture and Food Engineering, undertaken by Professor Ren Xiaofei’s research team. The textbook was developed after in-depth research, with Mao Haiyan and Tang Min serving as chief editors and Xu Dan as associate editor. As a highly targeted general textbook for specialized courses, it integrates theoretical knowledge and practical requirements of agricultural machinery. It effectively addresses the shortage of professional Chinese textbooks for agriculture-related disciplines at home and abroad and fills the gap in this field, building an important bridge for international students majoring in agriculture to learn Chinese and pursue further specialized studies.
The “Chinese + Vocational Skills” project aims to expand the pool of specialized resources for international Chinese education, help overseas learners acquire vocational skills through Chinese, and facilitate international exchanges and cooperation in technical skills.
The inclusion of Agricultural Machinery Chinese in this program demonstrates the textbook’s academic value and innovative merits. It also reflects Jiangsu University’s solid expertise and remarkable achievements in integrating international Chinese education with vocational skills. This achievement will further boost the high-quality development of international Chinese education at the university and provide strong support for Sino-foreign exchanges in agricultural technology and mutual learning between cultures.
