Faculties of Chinese Department, School of Foreign Languages, Anhui University of Science and Technology visit School of Liberal Arts, JSU

On the morning of June 29, Cao Ruilan, Deputy Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Anhui University of Science and Technology and 3 colleagues of his visited the School of Liberal Arts for the purpose of carrying out a survey on the Secretary Science Program and further strengthening the exchanges and cooperation between the schools. Talks between the two parties were attended by Professor Ren Xiaofei, Dean of the Liberal Arts and Deputy Dean Qiao Fang of the School of Liberal Arts, Zhang Furong, Secretary of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature Party Branch, Dean Zhou Du of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, as well as Ni Yongming and Wu Keqing, two core teachers of the Secretary Science.

Because its application for the Secretary Science Program has just been approved, the Department of Chinese, the School of Foreign Languages, Anhui University of Science and Technology is currently working to formulate the cultivation plan and getting prepared for the admissions publicity. The visitors are meant by this survey to acquaint themselves with the cultivation objective, cultivation planning, specialty construction, teaching staffs, admissions and employment, classroom instruction and other issues of the Secretary Science Program offered by the School of Liberal Arts, Jiangsu University. During their stay at the School of Liberal Arts, Dean Ren Xiaofei highlighted the significance of putting the School of Liberal Arts and the Language and Culture Center under the common leadership; Deputy Dean Qiao Fang gave a detailed account to the visitors of the implementation of the classroom instruction and practical activities of the Secretary Science Program, pointing out the problems concerning the curriculum design that should be paid attention to. Zhang Furong introduced to them issues concerning the setting of an cultivation objective, the revision of a cultivation plan, the practice teaching etc of the Secretary Science Program. Zhou Du analyzed in detail the concept and method of cultivating students with a wide range of knowledge and skills majoring in Chinese Language and Literature, the setting of core courses of the Secretary Science Program, and the cultivation of students’ comprehensive capabilities. Ni Yongming shared the experiences he had accumulated over years and the problems he had discovered concerning the teaching of Secretary Science, hoping that his observations would provide some reference for visitors from Anhui University of Science and Technology in their process of constructing the Secretary Science Program. Wu Keqin expounded the concrete procedures, method and effect of scenario simulation and case analysis in the classroom instruction of Secretary Science. Dean Cao of the School of Foreign Languages, Anhui University of Science and Technology, in turn, introduced the historical development of Anhui University of Science and Technology, the current situation of the School of Foreign Languages and the reason why the Department of Chinese had been affiliated to the School of Foreign Languages in his university. Finally, Pang Dongxia introduced the original purpose of Anhui University of Science and Technology in applying for the Secretary Science Program and the hardships they had gong through in the process of filing the application.
The talks that lasted for three and a half hours concluded in a light atmosphere with sufficient exchanges of ideas between the two parties. The meeting with the visitors from Anhui was a complete success, prompting the School of Liberal Arts to assume a more rational attitude towards the problems and undesirable issues facing the construction and development of the Secretary Science Program.
