The promotion meeting of International Chinese Education Major Discipline Construction
held in Language and Culture Center
On October 16, 2024, the School of Liberal Art (Language and Culture Center) held a meeting to promote the construction of international Chinese education major disciplines. Professor Ren Xiaofei, Dean of the School of Liberal Art and Director of the Language and Culture Center, Professor Yu Hongyan, Deputy Dean of the School of Liberal Art and Deputy Director of the Language and Culture Center, and Associate Professor Zhou Du, Deputy Dean of the School of Liberal Art, participated in guiding the meeting. All faculty members from the Department of International Chinese Teaching and the Department of International Chinese Education attended the meeting. The meeting was hosted by Dr. Sun Yue, Deputy Director of the Teaching and Research Office of the Department of International Chinese Teaching.
Dean Ren Xiaofei shared her insights from attending a recent conference at Shandong University, introducing to all teachers how Shandong University has empowered international Chinese education through digitization. She encouraged teachers to break away from conventional thinking patterns and actively learn new methods and technologies for AI-assisted teaching. In light of the development overview of international Chinese education disciplines, she recognized the strengths in the work of both departments. By comparing with sister institutions, she earnestly pointed out existing problems in their work and required teachers to continuously improve their academic qualifications. Through team collaboration, they should strive to apply for high-level projects and publish high-quality papers.
Ms. Tian Haihong made a sharing titled A Casual Chat on Overseas Chinese Education. After briefly introducing the concept, approaches, and characteristics of overseas Chinese education, she focused on sharing experiences and insights gained from practice in overseas Chinese youth summer (winter) camps. Additionally, she presented two case studies: Based on Zhenjiang Regional Culture, Supporting Overseas Chinese Education. These two cases were respectively selected for inclusion in Typical Work Case Collection for the 35th Anniversary of the World Chinese Teaching Association and 2023 Sino-Foreign Youth Humanities Exchange Achievement Case Compilation by the Ministry of Education's China-Foreign People's Exchange Center.
