On June 14th, the "A Kinship to China .tell stories for you" Online Summer Camp in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province Started! It is hosted by the Federation of Jiangsu Retruned Overseas Chinese, the Federation of Zhenjiang Returned Overseas Chinese , the College of Arts and the Language and Culture Center affiliated to Jiangsu University.
Its beginning part involved two parts: leaders' speeches and campers' performances. Liu Qi, the Minister of Cultural Communication Department in the Federation of China Returned Overseas Chinese, made a speech in the form of audio. Liu said that the online summer camp realized a great unity of Chinese-American teenagers because it was popular with all Federations and participating institutions.
In the next, Wang Yongxin, the Chairman of the Federation of Zhenjiang Returned Overseas Chinese, and Ren Xiaofei, the head of the College of Arts and the director of the Language and Culture Center, expressed a warm welcome to campers, their parents and teachers in the form of video. They briefly introduced Zhenjiang's history, the international education of Jiangsu University, and the achievement that the Language and Culture Center made in Chinese teaching and propagating China's culture. We sincerely hope that these teenagers can spend a pleasant, fulfilling and fruitful two-week online summer camp in Zhenjiang.
Finally, lovely campers delivered speeches, played tougue twister, sang and danced to liven things up at the opening ceremony, which demonstrating their versatilities and expressing their sincere feelings towards China.
A total of 582 Chinese youths aged between 6 and 18 from the United States, Canada, Italy, Switzerland, Spain and other countries began a fifteen-day traditional culture learning tour through WeChat group. The learning contents contained the interpretation of Chinese characters, human geography and the knowledge of epidemic prevention. At the same time, campers could interact and show themselves in the WeChat group, which helped every camper gain knowledge, have fun in this activity, and experience a different learning way online. It enabled campers to understand Chinese traditional culture.
The Language and Culture Center serves as Jiangsu University's department, which bears the responsibility for overseas students’ Chinese teaching. We has successfully conducted the Summer Camp of Graz University’s Confucius Institute of Austria, the Summer Camp of London University’s Confucius Institute, the Summer Camp of Jin Xiu International Youth Leadership Team in jiangsu Province, the Summer Camp of Royal University of Walayalon, Thailand and the Summer camp of Kyongbei University, Korea etc. Times, Xinhua, the website of the ministry of education and other media broadcasted these activities, so they made beneficial social effects. In December 2019, the center successfully hosted the 2019 Overseas Chinese Youth "Root Seeking Journey" Winter Camp sponsored by the Federation of China Returned Overseas Chinese. It has opened a new chapter of Chinese teaching and contributed to the international communication of Chinese language and Chinese culture.
