On the morning of July 24, 2024 “China Roots Journey” Summer Camp Jiangsu Zhenjiang “Longyinqinyun” Camp held a closing ceremony in Jiangsu University. Ai Hui, Vice Chairman of Jiangsu Overseas Chinese Federation, Wang Yongxin, Party Secretary and Chairman of Zhenjiang Overseas Chinese Federation, and Yang Jingjiang, Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department of Jiangsu University attended the closing ceremony.
The Zhenjiang camp was hosted by China Overseas Chinese Federation, organized by Jiangsu Overseas Chinese Federation and Zhenjiang Overseas Chinese Federation, and co-organized by College of Liberal Arts (Language and Culture Center) of Jiangsu University. Twenty Chinese youths from Spain, Denmark, Holland, Switzerland, Germany, France and other countries gathered at Jiangsu University for a ten-day exchange visit and cultural experience. During the closing ceremony, the campers sang and danced to express their gratitude to the staff and volunteers.
Yang Jingjiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department of Jiangsu University, delivered a speech, in which he thanked all the units for their support and encouragement, and acknowledged the excellent achievements of the campers and staff during the ten days. Ren Xiaofei, Dean of the College of Arts and Letters and Director of the Language and Culture Center of Jiangsu University, gave a summary of the camp, in which she summarized the fruitful results of the camp from the aspects of campers' performance and campers' experience. The leader representative, Bian Ting, thanked all the staff and volunteers for their support. Zhang Zhixin, the representative of the campers, expressed her heartfelt thanks for meeting Zhenjiang from the experience of the camp.
In the awards session, certificates were presented to the winners of the Fun Games, the Recitation Competition and the Outstanding Campers.
In the cultural performance session, the campers went up to the stage to show their own works of research and study, and together with the volunteers, they brought colorful performances such as chorus, dance, magic, etc., which won applause at the scene. “Beyond the long pavilion, by the ancient road, the grass is blue even in the sky ......”, the closing ceremony ended successfully in the melodious song of ‘Farewell’.
July 25th is the birthday of Zhang Zhixin, the volunteers also gave Zhang Zhixin a birthday cake, and the whole group sang the Happy Birthday song.
Searching for Chinese Roots, Learning from Zhenjiang! During the ten-day “Roots” trip, the campers visited Jinshan Park, made Taiping clay calls and armor, went to Zhenjiang Museum, Xijin Ancient Ferry and China Vinegar Culture Museum to experience Zhenjiang's long history and rich culture, visited Chongshi Girls' High School and Yanhuang Foreign Language School to experience the splendor of Chinese ink paintings, ceramics and calligraphy, and learned about non-heritage Song dynasty artifacts and the history of the Chinese culture in Zhenjiang. The campers also visited Chongshi Girls' High School and Yanzhou Foreign Language School to experience Chinese ink painting, ceramics and calligraphy; learned about the non-heritage Song Dynasty tea ceremony and experienced origami and paper-cutting to appreciate the profoundness of Chinese culture; explored the secrets of fish culture in Yangzhong; and experienced the prosperous development of modern industry in Danyang. ...... campers expressed that the trip was worthwhile, and hoped that they would be able to bring their classmates and friends to Zhenjiang again in China in the future.
