Recently, the 2023 “Tongle Jiangsu” Speech Contest for Foreigners, jointly organized by the Information Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government and Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education, and hosted by Jiangsu Radio and Television, has been successfully concluded. After the preliminary and final rounds of selection, Li Ying (English name: PREEYAKORN WOONFAK, from Thailand), an international student of our university, won the second prize by virtue of her in-depth observation and sincere expression of emotions.
The competition required the contestants to show the beauty of China in their eyes through VLOG, sharing with the audience campus life, non-heritage skills, street humanities, natural scenery, etc., so as to let more foreigners know about China, familiarize themselves with the daily life of international students, and feel the unique cultural charm of China.
Li Ying's VLOG begins with her life as a student and describes her experience at Jiangsu University in detail. She showed the teaching environment of the university, the study atmosphere of the library, the comfort and convenience of the international students' apartments, and the mouth-watering food in the cafeteria. Li Ying's VLOG, with smooth language and sincere emotion, not only showed her love and admiration for China as an international student, but also let the audience see a real, vivid and beautiful China through her perspective.
The success of this competition cannot be separated from Li Ying's own efforts and talents, but also thanks to the careful guidance of Guirong, the teacher of the Language and Culture Center, and Dina, the practicing student of the Chinese master's degree. They provided Li Ying with valuable advice and support, which helped her stand out in the competition.
Jiangsu University has always encouraged international students to participate in various cultural activities and competitions to improve their language and cross-cultural communication skills. Li Ying's award is not only a recognition of her, but also a reflection of the achievements of international student education in Jiangsu University. In the future, the university will continue to provide more opportunities for international students to show themselves and learn about China, and promote their progress in Chinese language learning and cultural exchange.
