"Fun with Chinese, Joy Nonstop" Chinese Corner Activity Concludes Successfully

On the morning of May 11, the Language and Culture Center of Jiangsu University held the "Fun with Chinese, Joy Nonstop" Chinese Corner activity in Building 1 of Jingjiang Campus. Meticulously planned by the Language and Culture Center, the event brought together more than ten international students from various countries and 10 intern volunteers majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, kicking off a unique and engaging Chinese learning journey.

At the start of the activity, the host divided the international students into two groups based on their Chinese proficiency and organized an icebreaker session. The lighthearted and interesting interactive segment quickly narrowed the distance between participants, instantly enlivening the atmosphere and laying a solid foundation for the smooth progress of subsequent activities.

This Chinese Corner featured a series of fascinating activities, including "Chinese Character Builder", "Antonym Guessing Game", "Chinese Culture Showcase", and "Chinese Character Challenge". With the careful assistance of volunteers, the two groups of international students engaged in intense friendly competitions. Laughter filled the venue, creating a strong atmosphere of learning and communication.

The first activity was "Chinese Character Builder". After the host explained the rules in detail, the international students threw themselves into the game with great enthusiasm. They fully tapped into their Chinese knowledge reserves and brainstormed ideas, subtly deepening their understanding of the structure and connotations of Chinese characters amid the joyful gaming atmosphere.

Next came the team-based "Antonym Guessing Game". The students collaborated with remarkable synergy and helped each other. Through the collision of ideas, they not only practiced their Chinese expression skills but also fully demonstrated their vibrant team spirit and the striving essence of the activity.

Moving on to the "Chinese Culture Showcase" segment, the team leaders determined their Chinese culture themes by drawing lots. The two leaders picked "Talk about Chinese Spring Festival" and "Talk about Chinese Customs You Know" respectively. Under the guidance of their leaders, team members launched lively discussions, shared insights from different perspectives, and ultimately delivered brilliant presentations, fully reflecting the international students' strong interest and unique understanding of Chinese culture.

The activity concluded with the individual "Chinese Character Challenge". The international students brought their A-game, concentrating intently on recalling the Chinese character knowledge they had learned. In the intense two-minute challenge, they strived to recognize characters and form words accurately, pushing the on-site atmosphere to another climax.

After all activity segments, outstanding participants were selected based on their overall performance and awarded first, second, and third prizes respectively, in recognition of their active participation and excellent displays.

This Chinese Corner activity was of profound significance. It not only built a high-quality platform for international students to showcase themselves and exchange ideas but also deepened their understanding and application of Chinese in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, stimulating their love for Chinese culture. Through the activity, the international students gained not only joy and friendship but also effectively improved their cross-cultural communication skills, taking a solid step toward better understanding China and integrating into Chinese life.
