University Teaching Supervisor Guided the Teaching and Research Activities of International Chinese Language Teaching Department
In the afternoon of November 8, the International Chinese Teaching Department of the Language and Culture Center carried out a special teaching and research activity entitled "Telling the Story of Zhenjiang, China: Report on the Teaching and Research Achievements of the International Chinese Teaching Department in 2023 and Prospects" in the Research Center of Cultural Inheritance and Dissemination of Jiangnan. Three school-level teaching supervisors, Ma Hanwu, Wang Jun and Tao Minghua, came to give guidance, and all the full-time and part-time teachers of the Department of International Chinese Language Teaching participated in this teaching and research activity. The activity was hosted by Yu Hongyan, vice dean of the Faculty of Letters and deputy director of the Language and Culture Centre.
First of all, Yu Hongyan expressed her warm welcome to the on-site guidance of the three supervisors and gave an overall introduction of the work content of Chinese language teaching, tournament guidance and language training undertaken by the Language and Culture Centre in the work of the whole university for studying in China. Tang Min, Director of the Department of International Chinese Language Teaching, and Dr Xu Dan, Head of the Grassroots Teaching Organisation, reported on the teaching and learning situation of international Chinese language education in the current year. The report focused on the six specific features of the practices adopted by the grassroots teaching organisations to promote teaching and research activities since 2023, as well as the fruitful achievements in academics, tournaments and practices. Finally, each teacher introduced to the supervisors through PPT and video playback to show the representative international students' award-winning works that they have recently instructed in international high-level Chinese language events and national A competitions.
The three school supervisors highly affirmed the results of the work of the Language and Culture Centre's International Chinese Language Education and Teaching. They believed that the grass-roots teaching organisations have carefully planned the year-round teaching and research activities, which not only improved the quality of our international Chinese education in terms of teaching, but also solidified the achievements of international Chinese education in terms of scientific research, tournaments, practice and publicity, and enhanced the international reputation of the university's education for studying in China. They suggested that we should actively attract more abundant international students from the countries of origin to participate in Chinese events and practices, and at the same time, we should take the initiative to seek and give full play to the linkage effect of the resources of local cities, so as to expand the influence of the results of our work.
Yu Hongyan concluded. She hoped that teachers would pay more attention to the transformation of teaching achievements, solidify their experiences and insights in teaching practice, give full play to their professional and teaching practice advantages, and endeavour to tell Chinese stories and spread Chinese voices.
