Understanding Contemporary China—— International Chinese Classroom Construction and Teaching Innovation Symposium

The Understanding Contemporary China— International Chinese Classroom Construction and Teaching Innovation Symposium was successfully held in Wenzhou from September 21st to 22nd. Four teachers from Jiangsu University's Language and Culture Center attended the conference .

The symposium was guided by the Ministry of Education's Center for Language Exchange and Cooperation, jointly hosted by Beijing Language and Culture University's Understanding Contemporary China International Chinese Virtual Teaching Research Room, Wenzhou University, and Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. More than 200 experts, scholars, and student representatives from over 80 universities nationwide participated in the symposium. Yu Yunfeng, Director of the Center for Language Exchange and Cooperation at the Ministry of Education, Zhao Min, President of Wenzhou University, Duan Peng, President of Beijing Language and Culture University, and Liu Jie, Chief Editor of Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Yu Yunfeng, Director of the Center for Language Exchange and Cooperation at the Ministry of Education, stated that international Chinese education is an important bridge for enhancing international exchanges and understanding. From a global perspective, the atmosphere of learning Chinese is becoming increasingly strong, and the practical value of Chinese is becoming increasingly prominent. Understanding Contemporary China is an inevitable result of carrying out international Chinese education, an important means to stimulate the learning motivation of Chinese learners, and an effective way to promote high-quality development of international Chinese education. The Language Exchange and Cooperation Center is willing to deepen cooperation with all parties to help more foreign friends understand contemporary China and make new and greater contributions to serving the construction of an educational power and practicing the concept of global civilization.

 In the keynote report session, Professor Duan Peng shared Beijing Language and Culture University's innovative exploration in opening up the direction of smart education, implementing smart education projects, developing smart teaching systems, and carrying out smart curriculum construction based on the comprehensive practice of upgrading international Chinese smart education. He stated that in the future, the school will fully open its smart teaching system and Understanding Contemporary China smart courses, willing to work hand in hand with colleagues in academia and industry to use international Chinese education as a bridge so that people from all countries can better understand China, comprehend China, and identify with China.

During the round table meeting, international Chinese education experts, scholars, and teachers from across the country had a heated discussion on topics such as curriculum construction, textbook application, resource construction, and academic research. They shared experiences, exchanged achievements, and explored innovative paths to promote practical innovations in Chinese education to continuously advance the development of international Chinese education. All four teachers from our university's Language and Culture Center who attended the conference expressed that this event was significant for promoting experience exchange among teaching units and was also helpful for broadening personal horizons, promoting academic exchanges, and improving individual teaching levels. After returning to school, the International Chinese Teaching Department of the Language and Culture Center immediately convened a special meeting to share and exchange content and insights gained from participating in the Understanding Contemporary China International Chinese Classroom Construction and Teaching Innovation Symposium.
