Delegation from Diocesan Girls' School (Hong Kong) Visits Jiangsu University for Exchange

On the afternoon of April 8, a delegation from Diocesan Girls' School (Hong Kong), led by its Principal Ms. Lau Kan Lai Kuen, visited the Language and Culture Center of Jiangsu University and conducted cultural exchange activities at the Jiangnan Culture Communication and Inheritance Experimental Center.

Vice Dean Zhou Du of the School of Liberal Arts delivered a welcome speech. He stated that as an Overseas Chinese Cultural Exchange Base in Jiangsu Province, the School of Liberal Arts (Language and Culture Center) has hosted the "Roots-seeking Journey to China" Summer and Winter Camps for many consecutive years, having received a total of more than 2,000 overseas Chinese teenagers from over 30 countries. He pointed out that since the first visit in November 2023, Diocesan Girls' School (Hong Kong) has left a deep impression with its open international vision and youthful vitality. This visit and exchange is not only a continuation of the traditional friendship but also a new starting point for deepening curriculum co-development, academic research, and mutual visits between teachers and students.

In her speech, Principal Ms. Lau Kan Lai Kuen shared her thoughts on cultural inheritance and Chinese language learning, and expressed the hope that more young students from Hong Kong could come to the motherland to experience China's national conditions in person.

Dai Zhangli, a student from the Guqin Study Room of the School of Liberal Arts, gave an introduction to the guqin and performed pieces including Jiu Kuang (Wine Madness), Shanyuan Xiao Mei (Plum Blossoms in a Mountain Garden) and Qiu Feng Ci (Autumn Wind Song), leading the guests to an immersive experience of the elegant artistic conception of the guqin. Under the guidance of several students in the study room, teachers and students from Diocesan Girls' School (Hong Kong) also tried playing the guqin themselves, using simple fingerings to play Cang Hai Yi Sheng Xiao (A Laugh Across the Vast Sea) and experiencing the joy of guqin performance.

Finally, Principal Ms. Lau Kan Lai Kuen and her entourage proceeded to the Peony Garden of Jiangsu University to admire the blooming national flower—the peony, drawing a perfect and beautiful end to the exchange activity.
