On August 22, 2024, in the midst of the summer festival, the Chinese Cultural Experience Camp for 2024 Chinese University Students, with the theme of “‘Overseas Chinese See Zhenjiang’ of ‘Zhen Shi Shi’”, started at Jiangsu University. This activity is organized by the China Foundation for Chinese Language Education. This activity was jointly organized by China Chinese Language Education Foundation, Jiangsu Overseas Friendship Association and Jiangsu Education Department, and undertaken by Zhenjiang Overseas Friendship Association, Talent Office of Zhenjiang Municipal Party Committee, and College of Liberal Arts (Language and Culture Center) of Jiangsu University, with the support of Danyang Overseas Friendship Association, Jurong Overseas Friendship Association, and Dantu District Overseas Friendship Association. Forty-two Chinese college students from Germany, Spain, Italy and other countries gathered together with great expectation to start a four-day in-depth cultural experience in Zhenjiang.

On the first day of the camp, the campers first stepped into the Zhenjiang Art Theater, where they were not only prepared for a rich experience of Zhenjiang's characteristic non-legacy projects, but also made them understand the culture of the summer heat festival through vivid explanations. In a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere, the campers initially felt the deep cultural heritage and unique artistic charm of Zhenjiang.

Afterwards, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Chinese Culture Experience Camp for Chinese University Students was held ceremoniously. The leaders of China Foundation for Chinese Language Education and Zhenjiang Municipality attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Song Qi, vice president of Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Sea Associations, declared the opening of “2024 Chinese University Students' Chinese Culture Experience Camp”, warmly welcomed the campers who had come from afar, and wished this activity a complete success.

 In the opening ceremony, through the three chapters of “Touring Ancient Rivers and Mountains, Searching for Hundreds of Famous Scholars, and Watching Ten Years of Development”, the campers seemed to travel through time and space and witnessed the long history and rapid development of the city of Zhenjiang.  

The success of the opening ceremony signified that this experience camp officially entered a substantive stage. In the next few days, the campers will visit the ancient monuments and attractions, experience the folk customs, visit the modern enterprises, and learn about the achievements of the new practice of the Chinese-style modernization of Zhenjiang.
