Zhenjiang “Longyinqinyun” camp held a meeting on Chinese language education work

 On the evening of July 22, the 2024 “China Roots Journey” Summer Camp “Longyinqinyun” Camp in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province held a meeting on Chinese language education. Overseas Chinese school leaders and campers' representatives from this camp and teachers' representatives from the College of Liberal Arts (Language and Culture Center) of Jiangsu University discussed and exchanged ideas about Chinese language education. The meeting was hosted by Prof. Ren Xiaofei, Dean of the College of Letters and Director of the Language and Culture Center, and attended by Xiao Yan, Resident Instructor of Overseas Chinese Federation of Jiangsu Province, and Zhou Du, Vice Dean of the College of Letters.

 

Prof. Ren Xiaofei, Dean of the College of Arts and Letters (Language and Culture Center) of Jiangsu University, briefly introduced the characteristics of the College and the faculty in the field of international Chinese language education and Chinese language education, and expected to improve the work of the “Journey to Chinese Roots” Summer Camp through the meeting, and to give advice and suggestions to further promote the high-quality development of the cause of Chinese language education.

Mr. Dai Li introduced the development history of the Danish Aarhus Chinese Association and the current situation of international Chinese education in Aarhus, Denmark in recent years, and hoped to improve the construction of Chinese education teachers. Ms. Bian Ting, the leader of the team, exchanged the process of establishing a Chinese language school in Spain, introduced the current situation of Chinese language education in Spain, and shared the current problems regarding the teaching of pinyin, oral language, and the teaching of Chinese characters in writing. Ms. Guo Bei introduced the development history, management mode and experience of her Chinese school in Holland, and put forward her expectations for strengthening the teaching materials of Chinese language education.

Representatives of the campers exchanged their experiences of the summer camp, and they had deep feelings about handcrafts and guqin experience, and put forward more suggestions for the summer camp activities.

Representatives from the Faculty of Arts and Letters (Language and Culture Center) of Jiangsu University responded to the concerns of overseas Chinese teachers and students about the “Three Teachings” from their own teaching experience and research background. Mr. Xiao Yan, Minister of Overseas Chinese Federation of Jiangsu Province, suggested that the teaching of language and culture could be effectively integrated to enhance the efficiency of Chinese language education by taking the Three Character Classic and the Thousand Character Classic as examples of ancient Chinese teaching materials. Finally, Dean Ren Xiaofei made suggestions on strengthening cooperation and exchange and promoting the sharing of Chinese education resources at home and abroad.

This activity is an innovative link introduced by the College of Arts and Letters (Language and Culture Center) of Jiangsu University in the process of co-organizing the “Journey to China's Roots” Summer Camp in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province, which was highly praised by overseas Chinese teachers and students.
