On the morning of July 21, 2024, all the campers of the “China Roots Journey” summer camp “Longyinqinyun” camp gathered at the Jingjiang Building of Jiangsu University to learn about and experience the production of the non-heritage cultures “Taiping Play Dough” and “Armor”. All the campers gathered in Jingjiang Building of Jiangsu University to learn about the non-heritage culture “Taiping Play Dough” and “Armor” and experience making them.
Zhenjiang Huashan Taiping Play Dough is a provincial intangible cultural heritage project in Jiangsu Province. It originated in the Southern Dynasty and has a history of more than a thousand years. Mr. Zhou Baokang's disciple, Tang Ying, introduced the mud hooting and the story behind it.
Mr. Zhou Baokang led the campers to appreciate some of the classic Taiping mud hooters, explained the production process and guided them to design and make their own mud hooters.
The campers helped each other and completed their unique creations with a lot of laughter.
The word “armor” refers to armor and “helmet” refers to helmets, both of which are collectively known as “armor”. Ancient armor was used as a protective weapon for generals, but today's armor is no longer for war, but the inheritance of ancient art, symbolizing the independence of the Chinese nation and the spirit of continuous self-improvement, evoking the patriotism melted in the blood of Chinese children.
Immediately after, Mr. Tian Hao Ming, a non-genetic heritage bearer, introduced the next non-heritage culture to the campers, and introduced the “Tang Lion Ruyi Plaque” that the campers needed to make by themselves today.
Under the guidance of Mr. Tian and his team, the campers began their first experience of armor making.
The Taiping Play Dough carries good wishes, and the armor guards the peace of a party. The campers savored the traditional Chinese culture in making their own non-heritage works, such as the Taiping Play Dough and the armor “Tang Lion Ruyi Plaque”.
