Date:2024-07-20 View:

On the morning of July 20, 2024, members of the 2024 “China Roots Journey” summer camp in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province, “Longyinqinyun” went to Xijin Ancient Ferry, Zhenjiang Museum, and Zhenjiang Folk Art Museum, to explore the small town in the south of the Yangtze River that carries a long history and culture, and to experience the unique charm of the regional culture of Zhenjiang. Feel the unique charm of Zhenjiang's regional culture.

The first stop was the Zhenjiang Museum. Under the guidance of the interpreter, the campers got to know the rich collections of Zhenjiang Museum. The exquisite bronzes and porcelains with special marks of Wu culture left a deep impression on the campers.

The lecturer introduced the Western Zhou bronze phoenix zun, the museum's treasure, to the campers in a colorful manner, and the campers took pictures while marveling at it. After listening to the explanation, Zhan Hao, a camper from Spain, was surprised to tell the teacher leader that the word “zun” in the word “respect” is related to the instrument for holding wine in the beginning.

The second stop was Xijin Gudu. The campers, under the guidance of the leader teacher, traveled through the old streets and alleys of Xijindu, feeling the prosperous and lively atmosphere of today's world, and savoring the heaviness and vicissitudes of its thousand years of history.

When the teacher and the campers passed by the “Zhenjiang Pot Noodle” online store, they were attracted by the publicity of “boiling pot lid inside the noodle pot” and listened to the volunteers carefully explaining the characteristics of Zhenjiang Pot Noodle.

Sophie, a young camper from Denmark, posed for a photo with the stone inscription “Inscription on the Jinling Ferry” and read aloud the poems on the inscription under the guidance of the volunteer teachers. Although she didn't know most of the words, she still read the poem in her young voice.

The campers were deeply attracted by a special stone staircase called “A Glance at a Thousand Years” and stopped to take photos. Through the detailed explanation of the tour guide, the campers learned that the stone steps show the relics of different dynasties from top to bottom in a clear hierarchy, which is not only a unique landscape, but also a witness of Zhenjiang's historical changes.

The last stop of the study was the Zhenjiang Folk Art Museum. The campers were interested in learning about the process of sugar painting and were led by the lecturer to appreciate a series of handicrafts unique to Zhenjiang, such as velvet screens, lacquer ware, Zhangzhou puppets, etc. The beauty of the exhibits made the campers realize that Zhenjiang is a place where people can learn about the history of the city and its people. The campers were overwhelmed by the beauty of the exhibits and marveled at them.

At the end of the trip, the campers discussed what they had seen and learned on the return bus, and some even expressed their hope to revisit the same place in the future. The beautiful encounters with Xijindu, Zhenjiang Museum and Folk Art Museum became indelible memories in their hearts.
