The 2021“Chinese Bridge” World Chinese Competition for Foreign Students, organized by the Sino-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education and China Media Group, has announced the winners recently. Two international students from our university are on the list with excellent performance: Ghanaian student Josephine Naa Norkor Dowuona (Jing Mei) won the second prize, while Zimbabwean student Michael Lordmark Mubaiwa (Yang Jing) won the "Best Writing Award".

Chinese Bridge” World Chinese Competition for Foreign Students is one of the most influential Chinese language competitions in the world. The competition started in December 2021 and lasted for five months, including network preliminary contest and exhibition, submission of final works, exhibition, final review, announcement of winners, etc. The preliminary and final contests are respectively themed with "My Chinese Destiny" and "Towards the Future Together", and the contestants are required to submit theme compositions and speech videos. Chinese and foreign experts hired by the organizing committee evaluated the manuscripts and videos of the contestants from the aspects of speech content, language expression, image and poise, comprehensive impression, speech effect and creativity. Jingmei, an international student of our school, won the second prize with high marks for her work's phonetic standard, rich and touching content, and novel expression angle. Yang Jing's works with distinct themes, clear style, rigorous structure and fluent language won the "Best Writing Award". The advisors of the two students, Chen Yu and Xu Dan, won the "Excellent Advisor Award".

As a direct department responsible for Chinese language teaching and language and culture competitions for international students in our school, the Language and Culture Center, under the correct leadership of the school's party and government, has done a lot of work for the preparation of the Chinese Bridge” World Chinese Competition for Foreign Students since December last year, including overall publicity, primary selection in the school, and training of seed contestants. On the one hand, these measures have effectively guaranteed the smooth participation and achievements of our foreign students, fully embodying the teaching philosophy of promoting teaching and learning through competitions. On the other hand, they have made due contributions to further enhance the social influence of our international Chinese language education and promote the smooth implementation of the international communication strategy of Chinese culture.
