On the afternoon of June 14, the School of Arts (Language and Culture Center) successfully held a unique activity of “Making Lacquer Fans and Reciting Poetry” in 1104 Jingjiang Building, which is an important part of the series of activities of “Reading Jiangsu”. This activity aims to enrich the cultural life of students, promote the inheritance and development of intangible cultural heritage, and enable Chinese and foreign students to appreciate the unique flavor of Chinese intangible cultural heritage through personal experience.
At the beginning of the activity, Ms. Huang Xueyun introduced the uniqueness of lacquer fans to the participants, explaining in detail the common words and phrases on the fans, such as “Joy”, “Joyful and free”, “A light boat has crossed ten thousand mountains. “These words and phrases not only carry rich cultural connotations, but also convey people's aspirations and prayers for a better life. Afterwards, Chinese and foreign students participated in the poetry recitation session. They recited two classic poems by Li Bai: “Early departure from Baidi City” and “Wine will be advanced”. These two poems not only have deep meaning and are rich in life philosophy, but are also catchy and easy to recite. In the rhythm of classical poems, students deeply felt the profoundness of traditional Chinese culture and at the same time appreciated the unique charm of ancient poems.
In the Lacquer Fan Making session, students couldn't wait to start their creations. They carefully selected blank paper fans and their favorite lacquer colors, carefully dripped the paint into the water, and then dipped the fans into it after the paint was gently stirred. Every dip and offer was accompanied by the students' laughter, as if every attempt was a deep conversation with traditional culture.
Finally, the students put carefully selected seals on the dried fans, or wrote down their favorite phrases, and a unique, personalized lacquer fan was born. These lacquer fans are not only the inheritance of traditional culture, but also the perfect fusion of students' creativity and emotion.
The activity of “Making Lacquer Fans and Reciting Poetry” not only allowed students to experience the charm of non-heritage culture, but also deepened their sense of identity and pride in traditional Chinese culture. This activity not only enriched the students' after-school life, but also enabled them to better understand and inherit the excellent traditional Chinese culture in practice.
